University of Oklahoma – Jacobson Hall
Preserving 100 Years of Heritage at the University of Oklahoma
Our team was tasked with a comprehensive historic window replacement for the original 100-year-old structure, alongside a precision window and door installation for the new building addition.
The Challenge: Replicating Century-Old Craftsmanship
Jacobson Hall, originally the university’s library and now a landmark visitor center, features intricate wood window details that define its character. To maintain the building’s standing on the National Register of Historic Places, the replacement windows had to be virtually indistinguishable from the originals, necessitating careful planning for historic window replacement.
Our specialized window replacement approach included:
- Intricate Templating: We created custom templates to match the unique shapes and profiles of the original 100-year-old wood window frames.
- Divided Light Accuracy: Our team successfully duplicated the original divided light bars, ensuring the “visual rhythm” of the building remained unchanged.
- Performance Upgrades: While the look is historic, the new window units offer 21st-century energy efficiency and durability.
